Shooting Photography Safely During COVID-19
By: Chris Haller
Sick of the Pandemic? So are we. But original photography and video is still essential.
Businesses need commercial photography to feature new products and services, for portraits of employees and senior leadership, or to highlight facilities and client relationships. Annual Reports and ESG reports still need original photography. Websites need to be redesigned and updated. Executives and board members continue to change. And companies continue their marketing efforts.
Getting the Job Done
Obata directors and photographers have over 20 years of experience operating safely in industrial and commercial locations. We’re adding masks, social distancing protocols and pre-shoot safety reviews to our typical PPE preparation. Most location photography and video assignments can be completed with only two people. We shoot with a small footprint and never hire outside crew.
New challenges require innovative approaches. We’re getting the job done while keeping photo subjects, clients, and employees safe.
Here’s How It Works
We staged a three-day photo shoot of school kids using Emerson’s “STEM in a Box” activity kits. The location was an unoccupied rental home. Eight total kids were used, but only siblings and a parent were in the house at any given time. All off-camera participants wore masks, the sets were cleaned between shoots, and we had gloves and hand sanitizer available for everyone on set.
We approach all photo assignments with a “can-do” and “be safe” attitude.
